For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good.
As December unfolds and winter comes upon us, we prepare for the arrival of the Prince of Peace. That little Christ child will change the world, will fulfill our dreams, will enchant us to believe again that there can be peace and love and goodwill.
And yet, in our national lives we have experienced one of the more divisive election processes ever. No matter how we voted we can choose now to end the division. We can choose to let God use us to heal the brokenness and to overcome the differences of opinions.
Please join me in making the Prayer of St. Francis our daily Advent prayer.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
May the Lord prepare your heart to receive the Prince of Peace.
