In the resurrection accounts in Matthew, Mark and Luke the declaration of the men (angels) at the tomb site is the same, “He is not here, he has been raised!” The women went looking for something, didn’t find it, were fearful when they heard what the angels had to say, and yet, they responded by being the first ones sent to announce the Good News. Martin Luther writes about the women, “What urged these good women to hazard life and body? It was nothing but the great love they bore to the Lord, which had sunk so deeply into their hearts that for his sake they would have risked a thousand lives.” Easter Sermon Wittenberg, 1538
I pray that you embrace God’s love for you, made visible in the death and resurrection of the Christ, and that you are able to carry a deep love for God making it plain to see by all you encounter. I also pray that you find what you are looking for, be it time with family, a pleasant meal, Spring weather, or even chocolate.
