School of Evangelism

Bishop Last talks about the School of Evangelism.

Vision: We share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, inviting all to find life's meaning of discipleship within the body of Christ.

Action: Provide leadership and support in equipping congregations and leaders to share the Gospel.

The formation of the School of Evangelism was influenced by Bishop Last’s experience of the Church in Tanzania and the role that the Church plays in the daily lives of individuals and communities.  The Church is not merely involved in the proclamation of the Gospel on Sunday mornings, but is also involved in medical care, health concerns, food and water distribution, education, government, and many other areas of community life.  The action of the Church conveys to the community in tangible ways the Word that is proclaimed verbally in worship.  The action of the Church also lends concrete credibility to the proclaimed Word.

The School of Evangelism will

·        Provide tools for congregational members, both lay and clergy, to share their faith in word and deed.

·        Evaluate the needs of their community, congregation, and surrounding area.

·        Examine the strengths of both individuals and congregations and how those strengths could be utilized to address the needs of the community.

·        Form a strategy for intentional evangelism at a personal, congregational, and ultimately, a synodical level.

Congregations are invited to send a team, made up of any combination of lay or clergy, youth or adult, male or female, young or old, to the event retreats.  Interested participants will have an interest in and a spiritual ability for outreach, hospitality, compassion, or personal sharing of their faith.
