The Western Iowa Synod, in partnership with the churchwide organization, bears primary responsibility for the oversight of the life and mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in the western one-third of Iowa. It is one of 65 synods in nine geographic regions of this church. Approximately 68,000 baptized members gather for worship and Christian service in 165 congregations in the Western Iowa Synod (statistics December 31, 2006). |
