Synod Staff

Michael A. Last joined synod staff as an assistant to the bishop in June 1999. He was elected bishop of the synod and installed into the office in 2001. Bishop Last has primary responsibility for the ministry of Word and Sacrament in this synod and its congregations, providing pastoral care and leadership for this synod, its congregations, its ordained ministers and other rostered leaders. The synod bishop exercises solely this church's power to ordain approved candidates for the office of ordained ministry, to commission approved candidates for rostered lay ministry, to attest letters of call and install rostered leaders. He exercises leadership in the mission of this church and in strengthening the unity of the Church, and oversees and administers the work of this synod. bishoplast@wisynod.org
