Synod Networks and Tables
The Executive Committee consists of the bishop, vice president,secretary, treasurer, and four members elected by the Synod Council from among the membership of the Synod Council. The Executive Committee counsels the synod officers and performs those functions assigned to it by the Synod Council. It assists the Synod Council in the operational function of the synod, especially during the periods between Synod Council meetings.The Executive Committee will:

Committee of Assembly Business
The Committee of Assembly Business and Counsel is composed of eleven members; three elected in even numbered years and four elected in odd numbered years by the Synod Assembly to a term of two years; two shall be appointed by the Synod Council from its membership. The bishop and secretary of the synod will be ex officio members. Functions include:

Companion Synods Network
The Companion Synods network is responsible for the overall workings and needs of the Western Iowa synod's two companion synod relationships with the Southern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania and the whole of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chile. It additionally oversees and guides the working of its various sub-networks (listed below). WIS Well Team: responsible for raising awareness and funding for this project in the WIS and for walking with our Tanzanian Southern Diocese partners and well-drilling team.
Igumbilo Lutheran Girls Secondary School: responsible for raising awareness and funding for this girls secondary school partner project with the Southern Diocese in Tanzania.
Medical Initiatives: responsible for raising awareness and funding for any medical-related partner initiatives with the Southern Diocese in Tanzania.
Center for Agricultural Development: responsible for raising awareness and funding int he WIS and for walking with our Tanzanian Southern Diocese partners. This is an extensive project with many levels of opportunity - mainly, on the international Board of Directors or the Operations Committee or other supportive roles.
Companion Congregations: responsible for raising awareness and developing healthy, effective, meaningful and successful companion relationships in both of the synod's companion relationships in Tanzania and in Chile.
Global Mission/Hunger Network
The Global Mission/Hunger Network is responsible for overall workings and needs of the broader initiatives in which we partner with the wider church. It additionally oversees and guides the working of its various sub-networks (listed below). World Hunger: Raises awareness and funds and lifts up resources for the ELCA World Hunger program.
Domestic Hunger: Raises awareness, builds synodical networks, shares resources and encourages response to local hunger in our communities.
Malaria: Raises awareness and funds for the ELCA Malaria Campaign.
Peace Not Walls: Raises awareness and funds for the ELCA Peace Not Walls initiative seeking a two-state solution in the Middle East peace process.
